The Hyvair HMS-400-B2SS is an orbital hydraulic motor in the HMS Series. Orbital motors turn hydraulic flow into low speed, high torque rotation, so they can drive a load directly without a gear reducer.
The motor is rated for 15.9 gpm of flow and a maximum speed of 150 rpm. Maximum torque is 3673 in-lb continuous and 5098 in-lb intermittent. Maximum pressure is 1160 psi continuous and 1595 psi intermittent. Rated output is 5 hp.
Use the continuous ratings for normal duty. The intermittent ratings apply to short periods, such as starting a load.
This model has a 1 in SAE 6B splined shaft, so the driven coupling must have a matching internal spline. It mounts on an SAE A 2-bolt flange with a 3.25 in pilot. Ports are 7/8-14 UNF O-ring ports, which seal with an O-ring on the fitting.
Speed depends on the flow you supply and torque depends on the pressure. With a continuous pressure rating of 1160 psi, set the relief so that normal working pressure stays within that figure. Keep flow to the motor within 15.9 gpm.
