The Hyvair HMD-080-B2KSS is an orbital disc hydraulic motor in the HMD Series. Like other orbital motors, it converts hydraulic flow into low speed, high torque shaft rotation, so it can drive many loads without a gearbox.
Displacement is 80 cc/rev, listed as 4.91 in3/rev. The motor is rated for 17.2 gpm of flow and a maximum speed of 805 rpm. Maximum torque is 2000 in-lb continuous and 2593 in-lb intermittent. Maximum pressure is 2973 psi continuous and 3988 psi intermittent. Rated output is 21.5 hp.
Continuous ratings apply to steady running. Intermittent ratings cover short peaks, such as starting a load, and should not be used as the normal operating point.
The motor mounts on an SAE A 2-bolt flange with a 3.25 in pilot. The shaft is a 1 in straight keyed shaft with a 1/4 in key. Ports are 7/8-14 UNF O-ring ports, which seal with an O-ring on the fitting.
Speed follows flow, and torque follows pressure and displacement. When you size the drive, check that pump flow to the motor stays within 17.2 gpm and that the relief setting keeps normal working pressure within the 2973 psi continuous rating.
