The Hyvair G8.5-2AK-3 is a G Series external gear pump rated for 8.5 gpm. Maximum pressure is 4,000 psi and maximum speed is 2,500 rpm. An external gear pump traps oil between the gear teeth and the housing and carries it from inlet to outlet, so it delivers a fixed volume each revolution.
Watch the speed rating on this size. At 2,500 rpm maximum, it is meant for slower drives than the smaller pumps in the G Series SAE A group.
Mounting is SAE A, 2 bolt, with a 5/8 in diameter keyed shaft and a 5/32 in wide square key. Confirm the coupling on your motor or engine matches.
The ports are SAE straight thread: a #12 inlet with a 1 1/16-12 thread and a #10 outlet with a 7/8-14 thread. Use a full size suction line to keep the inlet supplied at higher flow.
Output tracks shaft speed, so flow drops in proportion below 2,500 rpm. Set the system relief valve at or below 4,000 psi. The G8.5-2AK-3 belongs to the SAE A 3.25 in, 3 to 10 gpm gear pump category and covers the upper end of that flow range.
