The Hyvair AC2-FILTER/BRACKET, part number AC2-FILTER/BRACKET, is a MERV 6 filter with an aluminum bracket made for the Hyvair AC2 air/oil case cooler. It screens airborne dust and debris before they reach the cooler core.
An air/oil cooler removes heat from hydraulic oil by moving air across a finned core. Dust that settles on those fins cuts airflow and reduces how much heat the cooler can shed. A filter on the air side catches that dust first, so the core stays cleaner between services.
MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, a scale that rates how well a filter captures airborne particles. A MERV 6 rating sits toward the lower end of that scale and is aimed at coarse airborne dust.
The aluminum bracket holds the filter on the AC2 cooler. Check the filter on a regular schedule. A filter packed with dust restricts airflow much as a dirty core does, so clean or replace it when it looks clogged.
