The Hyvair AC16-3PH is an AC Series air oil cooler driven by a 1/3 HP three-phase fan motor. Oil from the hydraulic circuit passes through the cooler core, and the fan draws ambient air across the core to pull heat out of the oil. No water supply or cooling tower is needed.
The motor runs at 1610 rpm and is rated for 230/460 VAC at 60 Hz or 190/380 VAC at 50 Hz. Full load current is 1.56 A at 230 VAC and 0.78 A at 460 VAC. Size the starter, overloads and branch wiring from those figures, and connect the motor for your supply voltage per its nameplate.
The cooler is rated for 375 psi working pressure. Most air oil coolers are installed in a return line or a dedicated low pressure cooling loop. Confirm the pressure at your chosen location, including any surges when valves shift, and keep it at or below 375 psi.
Keeping oil temperature down helps the oil hold its viscosity, slows oxidation and protects pumps, valves and seals. Give the cooler an open path for air on both sides of the core, keep the fins free of dust and debris, and check that the fan turns in the correct direction after wiring.
