The Hyvair SBVR-20FP is an S Series high pressure ball valve with a steel body, a 1-1/4 in reduced port and female NPT pipe thread connections. It is rated for temperatures from 14°F to 212°F.
Like any ball valve, it opens and closes with a quarter turn. The handle turns a ball with a bore through it. When the bore lines up with the ports, fluid flows. A 90 degree turn puts the solid side of the ball across the flow path and closes the line.
Reduced port means the bore through the ball is smaller than the nominal 1-1/4 in port size. A reduced port valve adds some restriction compared with a full port valve of the same size. It suits lines where isolation matters more than the lowest possible pressure drop.
The ports are female pipe threads, called out as NPT in the product name. NPT is a tapered thread that seals on the threads, normally with a thread sealant or tape. The 20 in the part number corresponds to the 1-1/4 in size, and the R marks the reduced port version.
