The Hyvair BBV-48FP is a B Series brass ball valve with 3 in female NPT ports. It gives quarter-turn manual shutoff in large lines: a quarter turn of the handle rotates the ball to open or close the flow path.
The body, bonnet, ball and stem are brass. The ball seals against PTFE seats, and NBR O-rings seal the stem. A steel handle and nut operate the valve. PTFE seats give the ball a low friction sealing surface, which keeps the handle easy to turn.
The pressure rating depends on temperature. The valve is rated 400 psi at 100°F and 100 psi at 200°F, so check both the working pressure and the fluid temperature in your line before you install it. As temperature rises toward 200°F, the allowable pressure drops toward the lower figure.
A ball valve is an on/off device. Use it fully open or fully closed; holding it partly open to throttle flow wears the seats. Female NPT ports thread onto male pipe ends or fittings, so plan a suitable thread sealant on assembly. Confirm your line size, pressure and temperature against these ratings before ordering.
